turntables and tikka...

We celebrated a rather special birthday this weekend with a party at home. I cooked curry; a chicken tikka, a Jamie Oliver 'Peter's lamb curry' and a really delicious Anjum Anand butternut squash and chickpeas recipe too. I have never cooked curry from scratch before or catered for so many people - the size of the cooking pot was quite daunting!

The 'old man' got his vinyl out and spun some 'old skool' tunes of his youth, whilst the children ran around the house excited to be allowed to stay up late! The boys and I made some personalised viewmasters with his old baby pictures on and their favourite pictures on too, which were fab to pass around the guests for a giggle...

...and I've almost finished tidying up!

  5. What a fab looking celebration. I had that birthday earlier this year & so far it is shaping up to be a good age!
A while ago we helped our son set up a turn table, amp etc and passed on all our old vinyl. Now we have vinyl envy and are in the process of setting up a turntable downstairs and claiming back the good stuff! There is an amazing new record shop that has opened up in Malvern called 'Carnival' with lots & lots of great vinyl. Many men of Malvern are lost to it on a Saturday...

    1. hmmm not sure whether to tell Pete about the shop or not - I may regret it if I do! We have not one but two record shops in Stroud would you believe?

  8. This is my kind of party, good food, good friends and no-one fussing or being formal. Love the idea of the viewfinders.
