an apple a day...

We pressed more apples yesterday, so as a result I spent today learning how to bottle and pasteurize the apple juice, oh and sweating in my kitchen in all the heat! The juice is absolutely delicious, even more so having picked, pressed and pasteurized it ourselves. The baby absolutely loves it - I guess this is what they call 'baby-led' weaning then?

  1. Great photos as always - the colour of the juice looks so gorgeous and tasry. It's amazing how many apples go into a bottle of juice isn't it. We borrow a friend's vigo press every year and it really makes us appreciate every drop of juice!

    1. Thank you Andrea,
We did noticed that we had less juice from each pressing, compared to last year. Whether we picked unripe apples or again down to weather I don't know, and we are complete novices!
      Good fun though,
      Emma

  2. I normally ferment the apple juice to make wine, happy days.

    1. ooo apple wine, we've never tried that! Our next step is to try and make cider!

  3. What a beautiful colour your apple juice has. We've just had our annual apple pressing day for the family and are making cider with the juice but ours looks rather murky compared to your bright, clear juice.
