a little inspiration needed...

Camping again soon, somewhere with a real fire, yippeee! But what to cook? I need a little inspiration, as whilst I don't want to pre-plan all our meals, it is worth having some ideas in my head, so tasty local produce can be sourced and yummy meals rustled up easily for demanding little campers! Will definitely try the damper bread again, that worked really well! Have you any camping favourites that work well for your family?

  1. We tend to stick to simple things - lots of pasta and then bbq's - depends on what we can find in the local shops. If you're a meat eater then the local butchers often have some great bbq packs & most are willing to split into smaller packs if necessary.

Just been talking to MrVV - hoping we are going on a little trip next weekend when our boys are away.

  5. Hi Emma, I just read your post about camping food and immediately thought of a very dear friend of mine who has just published The Camper Van Cookbook (I couldn't paste the link in unfortunately, its just been published avail on amazon) he also has a blog campervanliving.blogspot.com which is a really great read. Its all about using local produce/stores around where you camp, with loads of great recipes. Check it out I hope it could be really helpful. Love your posts as always.

  7. We always love fish either smoked, grilled or baked on the fire with new potatoes roasted in foil in the fire. Yummers!

  8. Are you staying somewhere and having electric hook-up? We were meant to go during the last half time holiday but then I decided not too because I didn't want to get cold I can't wait to hear how you get on! We like to have vegie-hot dogs with lots of fried onion and tomato ketchup...and double helpings all round! I seem to get so hungry when I'm camping!

  9. LOL, just realised this post is from May and not from today....I thought November might be a bit chilly for camping...but then if you had a wood burning stove, maybe not....Can I blame my being not very well for not really being with it?!
